Cities are constantly transitioning. Even though transition is commonly associated with growth, cities often evolve in the opposite direction. Shrinking cities are not isolated cases, but a global phenomenon. The book „Städte im Wandel“ shows such shrinking processes by taking a closer look at the three cities Leipzig, Detroit and Eisenerz, looking for possible reasons and solutions for the problem.

A branding project resulted from this research, giving a holiday destination in Eisenerz a new identity that aims to make Eisenerz more attractive for tourists again. For more information have a look at the project „Barbara Residenz“.
